The Times has a report on Russian moves to sell nuclear technology to Venezuela, as they look for payback for the recent Georgian incident - Russia to build missile defence shield and renew nuclear deterrence. It seems the outcome of the last 20 years of short sighted (at best) and aggressive US policy towards the Russians has succeeded in recreating the cold war. I"m sure the same guys who have made so much from the Iraq war are very pleased with this outcome.Mr Medvedev met Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez in Orenburg. Tthe Kremlin issued a statement calling their relations a “counterweight to US influence” and added that Venezuela sought “a widening of our presence in the region”. |
